Department of Corrections major Anton
huggin tells KOAT M's containing kovat
his fellow corrections officers have had
their share of gripes bug of guam's
sole-source health insurance contract
with that now we've had a few officers a
little upset about it but see those that
have some serious medical issues there's
medical concerns and they need it for
them or their family uh a lot of it you
know just getting referrals some of it
is just reimbursement having to pay up
front and pay some of their medical

bills out-of-pocket
we asked organ if he thought prison
staff and other stakeholders in Gov
gloms health insurance contract would be
paying close attention to session this
week I think a lot of them are
interested in if there's choice I mean
choices always look at it you know when
we did the insurance before when we had
the different carriers we would go into
the who would meet with individual
representatives from the company and go
over the plan
each plan was usually different unique
from the other and sometimes it's good
01:01
because if you have family issues there
are certain medical conditions that you
have a concern about you you can see
which plan will cover you best in that
area when you only have one one
insurance companies that's here take it
or leave it
it is you really got no choice meanwhile
mayor's council Guam President Dan you
know mayor Melissa savaris tells Kay um
her colleagues have not wavered in their
support of bill two five five we believe
in choices especially for our our people
01:32
who are government employees and you
know it this past year we had our
struggles with just having their adjust
to one carrier but yeah that's that's
about you know we did send in a
resolution to support that measure to to
give employees a choice of to choose a
medical insurance for their families
mayor savaris says the council won't
start new dialogue with senators about
their support of the measure adding that
02:04
she hopes legislators will take their
unanimous resolution into consideration
