Health Care Provider Webinars | Division of Workers' Compensation
00:05
[Instructor] Welcome to the Texas Department of Insurance Web Series, topic number one.
[Amy Rich] We decided this year to reduce our carbon footprint and see if it worked for us to do
webinars all year long.
We want to satisfy the health care providers of the community, and this is what we’re trying.
From health care provider questions we decided what topics were relevant to them.
We also took the topics that were involved in our in-person seminar last year, and we
basically broke it up into seven different
webinars, and we have two other topics.
So it’s a total of nine topics that we’re
going to offer this year.
We pay attention to what the health care providers
ask of us, and we make sure we include that
in our education.
[Traci Moten] Pretty much everything I do here deals with workers' compensation.
What I learn from the webinars is what a provider can do
and what should take place from a provider's perspective.
How does it involve the injured worker and
the insurance carriers?
How they all play together.
[Instructor] The topic today is an overview of the Texas workers' compensation system.
[Amy Rich] We make sure we touch on all those difficult topics that health care providers have questions about.

We know that clinics are very, very busy,
and hospitals and doctors’ offices are very
busy, so we selected the lunchtime hour, and
we’re only going to do it for an hour.
Now if questions run over we’re not going
to say ‘hey it’s up’ we’re going to
take all your questions and make sure your
answers are given to you.
[Traci Moten] Since the webinars are in one hour increments it’s a lot easier for more employees to
attend these and participate in the webinars
because it doesn’t encompass the entire
day or several hours for the entire day.
I encourage providers to view them, participate
in them whenever possible.
Sometimes information and rules do change,
and it’s a great refresher and keeps you
abreast of the new changes of the current
law.
[Instructor] Thank you for participating, and we’ll see
you next time.
