this is what Nate labor needs to do to
win this fight we need to move it up
down and out in our organizations if
your larger local union has not yet
passed a resolution they need to pass a
resolution supporting Medicare for all
there's a sample resolution available at
BMW org we need to make this a
legislative priority we need to let all
the politicians that we deal with from
the local to the national know that we
will not support them unless they take
this issue up as part of their political
00:36
program we need to educate our members
so they understand what's wrong with the
current system and and the opportunities
that we would have under a
medicare-for-all system
now we need to show solidarity with
other workers or in fights for
healthcare justice and we need to use
all of the tools that we have in the
organizers toolbox the door-to-door
canvassing the legislative visits town
hall meetings letters to the editor
resolutions that are passed at all
levels of government mass rallies all of
these tools that we've learned are
effective to create political change we
01:07
need to mobilize them on behalf of this
fight from Medicare for all the American
people will support us on this I am
convinced that if we put everything that
we have into this fight and that we keep
our eyes on the prize we can win this
fight and we can win health care is a
right for everyone in America there are
over 6,000 lobbyists in this town who
work for medical insurance companies for
big pharma and other healthcare profit
01:39
ears
there's only 535 congressmen and
Senators in this building that I'm
standing in front of that means that
from every Congress person in this
country there are 10 lobbyists the only
job it is from the moment they get up in
the morning to the moment they go to
sleep at night to
convince that person that they need to
preserve the profits and the privileges
of their industry and stand in the way
of just health care for all Americans so
02:09
we need to counteract that with people
power we need you to call your Congress
person to call them regularly to have
your family and your neighbors and your
friends call your Congress persons use
the 800 number on this screen to call
your Congress person once a month and
remind them that we need Medicare for
all that we need them to support
legislation in the House and the Senate
to win Medicare for all Americans
